WHEN MICHAEL Jackson announced that he would shortly be celebrating his 50th birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hollywood.
Jackson was very rich and very peculiar, and had been the wonder of the world for more than 40 years, ever since his media adolescence. He had churned out hits on a fairly regular basis since then, each album a bigger spectacular than the last. And if that was not enough for fame, there was also his prolonged vigour to marvel at. Time wore on, but it seemed to have little effect on Mr Jackson. At 40 he looked much the same as at 25. At 45 they began to call him well-preserved; but finely-sculpted would have been nearer the mark. There were some who shook their heads and thought this was too much of a good thing; it seemed unfair that anyone should possess (apparently) perpetual youth as well as (reputedly) inexhaustible wealth. >>It will have to be paid for<<>>It isn't natural, and trouble will come of it.<<>

A reality show in the memory of Jacko
'Inglourious Basterds' Scalps the Boxoffice
With a smashing debut for Inglourious Basterds, overall business was a-boomin.' The increase over the same weekend last year was around 20 percent, making for one of the busier late August weekends on record.
Storming approximately 4,400 screens at 3,165 sites, Inglourious Basterds ground out $38.1 million, ranking as the highest-grossing opening ever for a movie released in the second half of August (and 11th for the month as a whole). More importantly, among World War 2-themed pictures, only Pearl Harbor and Saving Private Ryan had greater initial attendance, and Basterds more than quadrupled the debut of recent release, Defiance, and exceeded Valkyrie's first three days by 58 percent. Basterds also set a new high for writer-director Quentin Tarantino, surpassing the start of Kill Bill Vol. 2 ($25.1 million) and more than tripling the debut of his last movie, box office disappointment Grindhouse.

megan fox says no to bond upcoming film
Bond ... James Bond.
Not for Megan Fox! The “Transformers” actress has reportedly said no to being either shaken or stirred, and turned down a role in the upcoming 007 flick, known at the moment simply as “Bond 23.” The U.K.’s Daily Star claims the Fox-y one would “rather be a more central part of a movie” and not just a pretty face (or body). She’s all about being the leading lady, not just an accessory.
The brunette stunner isn’t the only actress to turn down playing Bond’s plaything: “Slumdog Millionaire” star Freida Pinto also nixed a role in the latest film, while Sienna Miller, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and Rachel McAdams shrugged off the role of Vesper Lynd that ultimately went to Eva Green in 2006’s “Casino Royale.”
Come on, ladies. Surely Daniel Craig doesn’t bite?

Kristen Stewart 'intimidated' filming new Twilight film
Kristen Stewart has admitted that she found filming the New Moon, the latest Twilight film, somewhat intimidating, particularly the parts revolving around the love triangle between Bella Swan and her boyfriend Edward Cullen and her best friend Jacob Black.
Stewart added: "Just like everything in our movie, it's such a heightened version of reality.
"It's like, people don't just break up [in the Twilight films] -- they break up and it literally kills you.
"It's not like you just say, 'Oh, I'm really depressed and crying.' Everything is supposed to be a fantasy version of that."
Crikey, looks like we can expect some high-level melodrama and lots of tortured vampire faces!
